Please join us on 3rd Friday, July 15th, as Kiosk Gallery presents Madcap Cabinet, a collection of mixed media, fiber art, and found objects gathered and created by Dora Agbas. The artist’s interest in Victorian-era cabinets of curiosity informs her process of exploring the relationships between intermingled objects, both found and handmade.
Artist Statement:
I collect, organize, and experiment with materials present in my environment. My constructions reorganize inorganic, organic, and man-made matter and reimagine them in new forms. My practice is a continuously evolving conversation with material.
I prefer handling and touching things with my own hands; this allows me to understand how to engage with their different qualities. My playful experimentation is fueled by my curiosity and guided by my life experience and my reverence for nature.
Transformation of material is an unrelenting process in nature and my aim is to create wonder about the things around us and about their impermanence.
